SEND Teacher - Early Years / Year 1
Posted 23 hours 39 minutes ago by Protocol Education Ltd
Looking for a role where every small win feels big?
We're working with a specialist setting that supports children in Early Years and Year 1 with autism as their primary diagnosis, alongside additional needs like ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, and behaviours that can sometimes tell a bigger story.
This isn't your typical classroom. It's smaller, more nurturing, and built around understanding each child as an individual. Think visual timetables, sensory breaks, structured routines, and those magic moments when a child connects, communicates, or simply feels safe.
What your day might look likeYou'll be leading a small class of young learners, supported by experienced TAs who really know their stuff. Together, you'll create a calm, structured environment where children can explore, learn, and build trust.
Your role will include:
- Planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet a wide range of needs
- Using strategies that support communication, regulation, and engagement
- Building strong, consistent relationships with pupils
- Working closely with therapists, support staff, and families
- Celebrating progress, no matter how small it may seem to others
- A genuinely supportive leadership team who understand SEND inside out
- Small class sizes and high staff to pupil ratios
- Ongoing training in autism, behaviour, and communication strategies
- A calm, well resourced environment designed for sensory needs
- A team that looks out for each other, not just the children
You don't need to have seen it all before, but you do need the right mindset.
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds UK QTS
- Has experience in EYFS or KS1, ideally within a SEND setting
- Understands autism and associated needs, or is keen to learn
- Stays calm, patient, and consistent, even on the tricky days
- Builds trust first, teaching second
If you've worked with children with autism, ADHD, or speech and language needs, you'll already know, this role is as much about connection as it is about curriculum.
