SEN Teaching Assistant - Preverbal Autism Support (Islington)

We're looking for passionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist provision in Islington, supporting preverbal children with Autism (ASD) in a 1:2 model classroom. You'll be part of a dedicated team helping children develop communication, independence, and social skills through structured routines, sensory activities, and visual supports.

Responsibilities

• Supporting non-verbal pupils 1:1 and 1:2 in a structured ASD setting
• Using PECS, Makaton, or visual aids to support understanding
• Helping pupils engage in sensory and play based learning
• Working closely with teachers and therapists to track progress
• Maintaining calm, consistency, and clear boundaries throughout the day

Qualifications / What we're looking for

• Experience working with Autism, preferably preverbal or early years SEN
• Calm, patient, and proactive attitude
• Ability to follow structured routines and use initiative
• Reliability and commitment - the children need consistency
• Enhanced DBS (we can help with this if needed)
