SEN Teaching Assistant

Middlesbrough Full-Time Long-Term Temporary Start ASAP

£95-£110 p/day

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a primary school environment?

A vibrant and welcoming primary school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a long-term opportunity, working Monday to Friday, supporting pupils with a range of sensory and additional learning needs.

You will provide tailored support to children across the school, helping them access learning, develop confidence and regulate their emotions throughout the school day. Some pupils have significant sensory needs and may become dysregulated at times, which can result in challenging behaviours. As such, patience, resilience and a calm, nurturing approach are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support children with sensory processing needs and emotional regulation
  • Help implement strategies to maintain a positive and structured learning environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Encourage engagement, independence and positive social interactions
  • Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom

We Are Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient and proactive approach
  • The ability to remain positive during challenging situations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Graduates, support workers, care workers, youth workers and experienced Teaching Assistants are all encouraged to apply

What We Offer

  • Long-term opportunity with the potential to continue throughout the academic year
  • Supportive and experienced school leadership team
  • Access to on-going CPD training
  • Competitive daily rates of pay (PAYE)

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children who require additional support, whilst gaining valuable experience within a highly supportive school environment.
