Job Description
Overview

Are you looking to make a real impact in education and support young people to reach their full potential?

We are recruiting full-time and part-time SEN Teaching Assistants to work with pupils with additional needs across Bath and North East Somerset in a range of educational settings. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and want to play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development.

Protocol Education will support you every step of the way, helping you grow and thrive in your career through ongoing guidance, training, and opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils in learning by assisting students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials, breaking down tasks, and providing tailored support to suit individual learning needs.
  • Provide support with behaviour by implementing behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students develop self-regulation and social skills in a safe and structured environment.
  • 1:1 support for students: work closely with individual pupils who require additional assistance, building strong, trusting relationships and supporting their academic and emotional progress.
  • Collaborate within a team, working with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a consistent and effective approach to each student's development and wellbeing.
Why choose this role?
  • Supportive working environment - Work within welcoming and inclusive schools where staff collaborate, share best practices, and prioritise pupil wellbeing. You'll be part of a team that values your contribution and supports your professional journey.
  • Opportunities for CPD (Continuing Professional Development) - Access ongoing training, workshops, and resources to build your confidence and expand your skill set in areas such as behaviour management, autism support, and differentiated learning strategies.
  • Rewarding work where you make a difference - Play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve personal milestones both inside and outside the classroom.
Skills and Qualities
  • Experience with SEND is preferable; experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is highly desirable, including autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with pupils, staff, and parents, adapting your approach to suit different needs and situations.
  • Implementing a calm, understanding, and compassionate approach when supporting students who may face challenges in learning or behaviour.
  • Reliability and commitment demonstrated through a dependable, proactive attitude and a genuine dedication to supporting students.

If you're ready to take the next step in your education career and make a lasting difference, we'd love to hear from you.
