SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Secondary School

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a degree and a passion for supporting young people?A supportive and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from now until the end of the academic year, with the strong possibility of extension into September 2026 for high-performing candidates.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support students with SEND across KS3 and KS4
• Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to individual needs
• Adapt learning resources in collaboration with teaching staff
• Assist with behaviour support and promote an inclusive, positive environment
• Work closely with the SENCO and wider support team on student support plans
• Build strong, professional relationships with students, staff, and parents

To be considered, you must have:

• Previous experience working in a UK school setting
• A degree in any subject
• Experience supporting students with SEND, such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SpLD or speech & language needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, resilient, and proactive mindset
• Confidence supporting learning within a busy secondary environment

• Supportive SEN department with ongoing training and CPD
• Valuable experience for those considering teacher training, educational psychology, or youth work
• A collaborative school culture that prioritises student wellbeing
