Job Title: SEN Teacher Health and Social Care - Maternity Cover
Location: Syon Manor College, Isleworth, London, TW7 5AJ
Salary: Up to £45,000.00 per annum (salary negotiable)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 4.30pm Thursday and Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm
Contract: Fixed Term (Maternity Cover until August 2027) Term Time Only
Start: April 2026
Essential: Full UK Driving Licence

About the Role
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher (Health & Social Care) to join the team on a maternity cover basis at our Syon Manor, Isleworth campus. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, inclusive education to pupils with a wide range of academic, social and emotional needs, ensuring every learner is supported to make meaningful progress from their individual starting points.
The successful post holder will work flexibly across tutor groups, contributing to a positive, trauma-informed and nurturing learning environment that reflects and strengthens the wider ethos of the College.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons aligned to Pearson examination boards.
- Adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to meet the needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH and low prior attainment.
- Create a calm, consistent and emotionally safe classroom environment rooted in mutual respect.
- Apply trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches to support pupil regulation and engagement.
- Implement individualised learning strategies, including structured routines, visuals and practical activities.
Curriculum Delivery
- Deliver the College curriculum in an accessible, relevant and meaningful way.
- Teach Entry Level English and Health & Social Care in line with College development plans.
- Work creatively to integrate learning across subjects where appropriate.
- Support thematic, topic-based or cross-curricular learning models.
- Maintain high expectations for both academic achievement and personal development.
Assessment and Progress
- Assess, track and record pupil progress using formative and summative assessment methods, including EFL.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support pupils' next steps in learning.
- Contribute to pupil progress reviews, reports and relevant meetings.
Behaviour and Pastoral Support
- Establish clear routines and boundaries that promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Apply College behaviour policies consistently using restorative and relational approaches.
- Support pupils' emotional wellbeing within a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
- Work closely with pastoral and SEND teams to ensure coordinated, wrap-around support for individual learners.
This role is well suited to an SEN professional who is adaptable, reflective and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs to succeed both academically and personally.
About Us
Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.
For over 19 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
