Job Description
Teach South is supporting a specialist SEN school in Southampton with the recruitment of a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their team and make a real difference to the lives of young people with additional learning needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inclusive education and helping every pupil reach their full potential. The school supports pupils with a range of additional learning difficulties and needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Importantly, the school strongly encourages applications from mainstream teachers who are looking to take the next step in their teaching career and explore the rewarding world of special educational needs education. Previous SEN experience is desirable, but a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs, alongside a willingness to learn and adapt, is equally valued.

The Role:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs, abilities and interests.
  • Support pupils with SEMH, ASD and a range of additional learning difficulties.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment where pupils feel safe, valued and encouraged to succeed.
  • Adapt teaching approaches and resources to meet a variety of educational, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues and families to promote pupils' progress, wellbeing and development.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, positive behaviour and a love of learning.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has a genuine passion for helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Is patient, resilient, adaptable and confident in building positive relationships with pupils.
  • Can differentiate lessons and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Has experience working with SEN pupils, or is a mainstream teacher keen to develop their skills within a specialist setting.
Why Apply?
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils' lives.
  • The chance to develop specialist skills and broaden your teaching experience.
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive school environment focused on pupil progress, wellbeing and individual achievement.
  • An excellent opportunity for mainstream teachers to transition into SEN education and develop their expertise in a specialist setting.
How to Apply:
If you are a passionate teacher looking for a new challenge and would love to help pupils with additional learning needs achieve their potential, Teach South would love to hear from you.
