Job Description

Newbury Manor School is looking to recruit an outstanding SEN Teacher to join our teaching team. We are seeking an ambitious, energetic, and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils. The successful candidate will teach and support young people with autism, ADHD, and associated needs and must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The ideal candidate can begin in September or October 2026; for the right candidate we may consider a January 2027 start.

About the School

Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach supports students with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in ability to those with more severe learning difficulties. The school is located in a quiet rural setting in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, with extensive grounds and a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out professional duties in line with the latest School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document and uphold the professional code of the General Teaching Council for England.
  • Teach a class of young people, ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • Employ recognised and appropriate teaching strategies for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team, Governors and parents/carers.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of assessments of learning and progress for each student, matching against aspirational and appropriate targets.
  • Maintain the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work cohesively with key workers and the in-house therapeutic team to follow care plans and assist in creating educational schemes of work.
  • Provide the highest standards of professional practice and safeguarding.
Qualifications and Requirements

Qualified Teacher with QTS and experience working with students with SEN. Must already have the right to work in the UK. Willingness to undergo safeguarding screening, including Disclosure &Barring Service checks, and provide at least two references covering the last 3 years from roles involving children or vulnerable adults.
