SEN Graduate Teaching AssistantCould you make a real difference to autistic pupils who need extra support to feel settled and successful in school? Are you looking for meaningful SEN experience before moving into educational or clinical psychology? SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant £85 - £101 per day September 2026 to July 2027 Location - SEN school, Ward of Edgbaston Support Autistic children who require additional supportThe Role: Provide specialist support for autistic pupils through a mixture of 1:1 work, small-group intervention, and structured classroom assistance. You will help pupils follow routines, access learning, build confidence, develop communication, and engage more positively with the school day, while working closely with teaching staff and wider professionals to support progress.The Candidate: You are calm, patient, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want practical school-based experience, you can stay composed in a specialist setting, and you are interested in how focused support helps autistic pupils feel more secure and make better progress. This role would suit a graduate who wants relevant SEN experience before progressing into educational or clinical psychology.Requirements • Degree - A 2:2 or above in a creative subject. • Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication. • Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate. • Desire to work in education/with children - Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing. • Career Goals - A desire to pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.The School: This SEN school in the Ward of Edgbaston offers the chance to build valuable specialist experience in a setting where structure, patience, and purposeful support matter.
