Job Description
Learning Support Assistant
- Location: Rural Burgess Hill, West Sussex
- Daily Rate: Circa £120
- Job Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
- School provided free shuttle bus from Brighton
Join our specialist school as a Learning Support Assistant, dedicated to supporting students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a calm, structured environment and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support students in lessons to help them access learning and stay engaged.
- Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
- Assist with lesson delivery, both in small groups and 1:1 settings.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and support individual learning plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally those with ASD or other special educational needs.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and how it can be adapted for learners with additional needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively to meet individual student needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and professional development.
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade A-C or equivalent).
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or willingness to train).
- Understanding of safeguarding, SEN, and inclusive education.
- A clean driving licence is desirable but not essential.
