As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, strengthen their emotional resilience, and develop the confidence they need to succeed. Every day, you'll be providing the consistency, encouragement, and support that can truly change a young person's future.

Your Impact in This SEMH Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Support students experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, behavioural challenges, trauma-related needs, and attachment difficulties
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation skills and positive coping strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour through restorative and consistent approaches
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and confidence
  • Support access to the curriculum and maintain focus during lessons
  • Implement and contribute to behaviour support plans and EHCPs
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and inclusion staff
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and behaviour
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
