Job Description
Security Officer (24/7 Gatehouse / Patrol)

The Security Officer will provide 24/7 front-line physical security across the MSAI Scotland data centre campus, protecting the site, personnel, equipment and customer assets.


The role will be primarily based at the gatehouse, controlling vehicle and pedestrian access, managing visitors and deliveries, monitoring CCTV and conducting regular site patrols. The Security Officer will also respond to security incidents, alarms and emergencies, ensuring all activity is accurately recorded and escalated when required.


Duties

  • Staff the site gatehouse/security reception as part of a 24/7 security operation.

  • Control and monitor vehicle and pedestrian access to the campus.

  • Verify the identity and authorisation of employees, contractors, visitors and delivery personnel.

  • Manage visitor sign-in, access badges and visitor records.

  • Monitor and control site entry and exit points in accordance with security procedures.

  • Receive and manage deliveries, couriers and contractor arrivals.

  • Conduct regular internal and external security patrols of the campus.

  • Monitor CCTV, access control, perimeter alarms and other security systems.

  • Respond promptly to security alarms, access-control alerts and suspicious activity.

  • Challenge and report unauthorised access or unusual behaviour in accordance with site procedures.

  • Respond to and manage initial security incidents and emergencies, escalating to the Security Manager where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate security logs, incident reports, visitor records and shift handover information.

  • Conduct regular checks of perimeter fencing, gates, doors, barriers, lighting and security equipment.

  • Support emergency procedures, including evacuation and emergency-service access.

  • Liaise professionally with police, fire services, ambulance crews and other emergency responders when required.

  • Support contractors and maintenance teams with controlled site access.

  • Ensure security procedures are consistently followed by staff, visitors and contractors.

  • Protect sensitive information relating to the site, customers and operations.

  • Complete thorough shift handovers, highlighting incidents, outstanding issues and relevant security information.

  • Report faults with CCTV, access control, barriers, alarms or other security equipment.

  • Support the Security Manager with security inspections, audits and investigations.

  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused presence at all times.

  • Participate fully in the site's 24/7 security operation.
