We are seeking a committed Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our specialist provision in Rugby, working with students who present with challenging behaviour and additional social, emotional, and mental health needs.This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require consistency, understanding, and strong role models to help them re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant in our specialist setting, you will:Support students aged 11-16 with behavioural, emotional, and additional learning needsWork closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a structured and supportive learning environmentHelp implement behaviour support strategies and individual support plansProvide one-to-one and small group interventionsPromote positive choices, emotional regulation, and resilienceBuild strong, professional relationships based on trust, consistency, and high expectationsThe Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who:Has experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally within alternative provision, SEMH, or behaviour support settingsRemains calm and confident when managing challenging behaviourDemonstrates strong communication and de-escalation skillsIs empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusionHas a firm but fair approach and a genuine belief in every young person's potentialTeam Teach or other behaviour management training is desirable, but not essential, as training can be provided.What We OfferA supportive and experienced leadership teamOngoing professional development and specialist trainingA close-knit staff team with a strong sense of purposeThe opportunity to have a lasting impact on students who need consistent adult supportClear behaviour systems and structured routinesThis role would suit individuals considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or pastoral support.We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
