Secondary Teaching Assistant - Behaviour Focus

Are you confident, resilient and experienced in managing behaviour in a secondary school setting?
We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students in a Middlesbrough secondary school, with a strong focus on behaviour management and student engagement.
The RoleThis is a hands on, rewarding position supporting students across KS3 and KS4 who may present with:
- Challenging behaviour
- SEMH needs
- Low engagement or disrupted learning
- Barriers linked to attendance or social circumstances
You will:
- Provide in-class behaviour support
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
- Support students to regulate, re engage and succeed in lessons
- Implement behaviour strategies consistently
- Work closely with pastoral teams and classroom teachers
- Promote positive routines and clear expectations
This role requires someone calm, firm, and able to build strong professional relationships with students.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- Experience working in a secondary school setting
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Confidence supporting students with SEMH or additional needs
- A resilient and consistent approach
- The ability to de escalate challenging situations
- A proactive, solution focused mindset
Team Teach or de escalation training is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
