Secondary Teaching Assistant - Behaviour Focus

Are you confident, resilient and experienced in managing behaviour in a secondary school setting?

We are recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to support students in a Middlesbrough secondary school, with a strong focus on behaviour management and student engagement.

The Role

This is a hands on, rewarding position supporting students across KS3 and KS4 who may present with:

• Challenging behaviour
• SEMH needs
• Low engagement or disrupted learning
• Barriers linked to attendance or social circumstances

You will:

• Provide in-class behaviour support
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
• Support students to regulate, re engage and succeed in lessons
• Implement behaviour strategies consistently
• Work closely with pastoral teams and classroom teachers
• Promote positive routines and clear expectations

This role requires someone calm, firm, and able to build strong professional relationships with students.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working in a secondary school setting
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Confidence supporting students with SEMH or additional needs
• A resilient and consistent approach
• The ability to de escalate challenging situations
• A proactive, solution focused mindset

Team Teach or de escalation training is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
