The Role
As a Secondary Supply Teacher, your responsibilities may include:
Delivering engaging and effective lessons in line with school schemes of work
Teaching students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5 where appropriate
Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
Following lesson plans and adapting teaching where necessary
Assessing and supporting students' learning and progress
Providing appropriate challenge and support to meet different learning needs
Maintaining high expectations of students' behaviour and achievement
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and school leadership
Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
Providing feedback to the school where appropriate
Ensuring the continuity of learning during staff absence
For longer-term positions, you may also have responsibilities such as planning and marking, attending departmental meetings, contributing to schemes of work and taking part in parents' evenings where required.
What You'll Need
To be considered for Secondary Supply Teacher opportunities, you will need:
QTS, PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching within a secondary school environment
Strong subject knowledge in your specialist subject(s)
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Excellent communication and organisational skills
The flexibility to work across different schools and teaching environments
