Full-time PermanentSalary: £34,398 - £48,913 (M1 - UPS1 Fringe) + £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified TeachersStart Time: 8:15amFinish Times: Mon/Wed/Thu - 4:45pm Tues - 5pm Fri - 4pm

Reed Education are delighted to be supporting a brand-new specialist SEND secondary school in the Redhill area. The school supports young people aged 11-16 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, typically associated with Autism.

Students follow an exciting and fully personalised curriculum aligned with the national curriculum, delivered through small class sizes, strong classroom support and an experienced multidisciplinary team.

The Role: History & Geography Teacher

The school are looking for a passionate and resilient History & Geography Teacher who can deliver high-quality teaching to pupils with diverse SEND needs.

You will work predominantly at the Redhill site, with occasional work at a nearby satellite site.

The role involves delivering engaging lessons, adapting teaching to individual needs, and contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach that fully supports each student's progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and develop the curriculum for History and Geography, tailored to students' learning, physical and social needs.
  • Work collaboratively within a skilled multi-disciplinary team.
  • Create and maintain long, medium and short-term plans for impactful teaching.
  • Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets.
  • Track and report on student progress to parents, colleagues and appropriate bodies.
  • Develop reflective lesson plans and continually adapt to meet student needs.
  • Contribute to reviews of EHCPs, PEPs and LAC documentation.
  • Provide clear, motivational, structured lessons.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in autism education to inform teaching practice.
  • Manage challenging behaviours professionally within school policy.

About You - Successful Candidate Qualities

  • PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Ability to teach History and Geography up to GCSE level
  • Experience working with students with complex needs and/or SEND
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum
  • Knowledge and experience of autism and associated conditions, and how these affect learning
  • Experience of developing curriculum content for learners with SEND
  • Reflective, resilient and committed to helping every young person achieve their best
