SECOND CHEF WANTED - WEE BITS, NEWTON STEWART

We're looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Second Chef to join the team at Wee Bits, working alongside our Head Chef.

Wee Bits is a successful and highly rated independent restaurant, known for excellent food, friendly service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our menus combine relaxed dining with creative, high-quality cooking-from popular small plates and handmade burgers to dishes such as Goat's Cheese Brûlée, Seafood Linguine, Cured Sea Trout, Game Terrine, Venison Loin and indulgent homemade desserts.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate about food and enjoys working in a busy restaurant kitchen. Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but the right attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are equally important.

The role will include:

• Working closely with our Head Chef and the rest of the kitchen team
• Preparing and cooking dishes consistently to a high standard
• Assisting with food preparation, service and presentation
• Maintaining excellent food-hygiene and kitchen-cleanliness standards
• Following food-safety and allergen procedures
• Assisting with stock rotation, deliveries and reducing waste
• Supporting the smooth running of busy evening and weekend services
• Contributing ideas and continuing to develop your culinary skills

The successful candidate must be:

• Hardworking, reliable and punctual
• Calm and organised under pressure
• Passionate about cooking and high-quality food
• Able to work effectively as part of a close team
• Available to work evenings and weekends
• Willing to learn and take pride in every dish leaving the kitchen

The position will initially be part-time and will begin with a paid two-week trial period. Trial hours and the initial hourly rate will be agreed before starting. Following a successful trial, ongoing hours and pay will be reviewed and negotiated based on experience, performance and availability.
