We are looking for a Scientist to provide fast paced, reliable and efficient support for a diversity of internal collaborators requiring analytical data and scientific guidance within the Modern Oral category. This role entails a solid understanding of nicotine pouch products, key analytical methods, and the global network of laboratories capable of delivering relevant data.
Key Objectives and ExpectationsThe successful candidate will effectively engage with collaborators to understand their specific requirements, guide appropriate laboratory and method selection, manage projects to ensure consistent, timely delivery, and provide confidence to requestors through regular updates and meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Routing analytical chemistry requests from internal collaborators to the appropriate laboratory using fit for purpose methods, applying internal laboratory capability where possible, thus supporting Quality Growth innovation, product lifecycle management, THR sciences and regulatory engagement.
- Providing technical input to support the development, delivery and maintenance of fit for purpose analytical capabilities related to nicotine pouch products, aiming for global method harmonization and method performance equivalence as assessed through interlaboratory comparisons.
- Ensuring scientific integrity, data quality, and timely delivery of analytical outputs, supervising studies and projects, identifying deviations from agreed scientific or technical standards, and implementing appropriate remedial actions where required, in line with data standards and digital transformation objectives.
- Providing clear technical leadership and effective stakeholder engagement, working closely with cross functional internal teams (e.g. Advanced Analytical, Toxicology, Science Plan and Claims, New Categories R&D).
- Applying effective project management, reporting, and knowledge sharing, including authoring technical and scientific reports, internal publications and presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and engage with collaborators to understand their requirements, translating these into suitable study design with selection of fit for purpose methods.
- Demonstrated relevant analytical chemistry experience, with emphasis on GC and LC methods, and solid understanding of method development and validation principles.
- Effective interpretation and presentation of analytical data and scientific outcomes, including senior team members and tailoring presentations to suit the audience.
- Ability to lead projects autonomously as well as working within a team, effectively managing time and prioritizing several competing tasks.
- Relevant professional / academic achievement in Analytical Chemistry or related science.
- Solid understanding of BAT products, especially nicotine pouches.
- Experience with project management techniques.
- Relevant society and/or body membership e.g. Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
