Job Description

Hours of work: 31 per week. Working pattern: Part-time, term-time only (working for 40 weeks per year plus 6.2 weeks annual leave). As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work within our large Science Department. About the Role

As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our science curriculum by coordinating practical resources and laboratory facilities. Working under the guidance of the Team Leader or Senior Technician, your daily responsibilities will range from preparing materials for lessons to carrying out demonstrations. A major focus of this role is maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; you will conduct laboratory risk assessments, apply COSHH regulations, and handle the safe storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous substances. Additionally, you will help manage stock inventories, check and repair laboratory equipment, and set up tools to ensure a seamless learning experience.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an organised and methodical team player who can independently manage their workload and clearly identify work priorities. The successful candidate will have an understanding of health and safety legislation, and safe working practices regarding chemicals and hazardous equipment. You must be able to communicate clearly and build positive working relationships. While previous experience in a school environment and a relevant qualification is advantageous but not necessary, a willingness to participate in further training is essential.

Working Hours and Salary

This is a permanent position for 31 hours per week, over 5 days, during Term Time only. Fewer hours may be considered; please state your preference on your application. Required: As soon as possible Salary: Single Status Grade 4 - £25,185 to £25,583 (pro rata). This equates to £18,695 to £18,991 for 31 hours per week.
