Science Technician (Chemistry)
Posted 9 hours 13 minutes ago by The Independent Schools Council
This is an exciting opportunity, especially for a Science graduate, to join a busy, thriving Science department. You would be working as part of our 3-strong technician team who support practical work across key stage 3-5 in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. The laboratories at EHS are extremely well resourced and practical work is at the heart of our curriculum.
Laboratory experience is essential. Experience of working within a school or college environment would be beneficial but is not essential as full safeguarding training will be provided as part of your induction.
Every day will be different, but there will also be the element of routine. The successful candidate will be responsible for co ordinating and organising practical resources and equipment to support the teachers in the Chemistry department. They will need a sound understanding of health and safety procedures. They will be expected to work collaboratively and positively with two other science technicians, as well as teaching staff across the Science department.
Every employee at EHS is a valued member of the team, and staff wellbeing is important. Employee benefits include a generous employer pension; on site parking; use of the gym and pool; training opportunities; delicious lunches prepared by our onsite catering team; access to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens for employees and their families; and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
This position is full time, starting in late August 2026. 37.5 hours per week - 08.15am - 4.15pm Monday to Friday (52 weeks).
A full job description and person specification can be found in the Information Pack.
To comply with KCSIE Edgbaston High School for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, online checks and Disclosure and Barring Services.

Edgbaston High School is an equal opportunities employer.
