SC Cleared AWS Platform Engineer

We're looking for an experienced SC Cleared AWS Platform Engineer to support a secure cloud platform environment within a complex enterprise programme.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on cloud engineer with strong AWS, Linux and DevOps experience to work on secure infrastructure, automation and platform optimisation across a highly governed environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving AWS cloud platforms, ensuring they remain secure, reliable and scalable. Working alongside engineering and security teams, you'll help deliver cloud infrastructure solutions while applying automation and DevOps best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support AWS cloud environments across multiple accounts
• Manage AWS services including:
  • EC2
  • Auto Scaling Groups
  • Load Balancers
  • Target Groups
  • IAM roles, policies and permissions
  • Secrets Manager
  • Systems Manager
• Support AWS networking including:
  • VPCs
  • Routing
  • VPC Peering
  • Security controls
• Build and maintain Linux-based platforms, particularly Red Hat environments
• Develop automation using Ansible and Terraform/OpenTofu
• Support CI/CD processes using Git-based workflows
• Troubleshoot Linux systems, Java applications, JVM processes and Nginx configurations
• Monitor and optimise platform performance across compute, memory and storage
• Implement security controls across cloud and infrastructure layers

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in:

AWS Platform Administration

• AWS EC2, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers and Target Groups
• IAM roles, policies, permissions and instance profiles
• Multi-account AWS environments
• AWS Systems Manager and Secrets Manager
• AWS networking (VPC, routing, peering)
• Terraform or OpenTofu

Linux & DevOps

• Strong Linux administration experience (Red Hat/RHEL preferred)
• Ansible automation
• Git workflows (GitHub, repositories, branches, code reviews)
• Networking fundamentals:
  • TCP/IP
  • IP Addressing
  • CIDR
  • TLS certificates
• Nginx configuration and reverse proxying
• Java application support and JVM troubleshooting
• SSH and OpenVPN

Security Experience

• Strong understanding of infrastructure security principles
• Experience working within secure or governance-led environments
• Ability to collaborate with security teams to deliver compliant solutions

Desirable Experience

• AWS Organisations and Service Control Policies
• AWS CLI and/or Boto3
• ServiceNow
• Microsoft technologies including SSO and SharePoint
• Experience reducing technical debt through simplified platform design
• Technical documentation using Confluence or similar tools
• Defence, Government or regulated sector experience
