Job Description

G MASS Consulting are seeking a Sanctions Manager to join their client's Group Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) function on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is a specialist role responsible for shaping and overseeing the Group's sanctions policy and framework, ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting business needs across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as AFC Advisory Subject Matter Expert on sanctions, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory, legal, industry, and policy requirements.
  • Lead the maintenance of sanctions policies, standards, training and awareness content, ensuring effective adoption across the Group.
  • Provide clear and pragmatic advice on sanctions to stakeholders across the business, balancing regulatory requirements with client and commercial needs.
  • Oversee sanctions risk management, including responding to breaches, reviewing legal documentation, and updating firm-wide standards.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, guidance, and industry best practice, assessing and implementing changes across the framework.
  • Contribute to AFC regulatory responsibilities (e.g., AML Officer/MLRO for specific jurisdictions, where applicable).
  • Develop and manage reporting to senior stakeholders, committees and boards on sanctions matters.
  • ICA Diploma in AML or equivalent sanctions qualification (essential)
  • Extensive Anti-Financial Crime experience within financial services, covering AML, Sanctions, Counter-Terrorist and Proliferation Financing, Anti-Modern Slavery, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption
  • Strong knowledge of sanctions and the broader financial crime regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sanctions frameworks and provide proportionate, business-focused advice
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Adaptability and sound judgment in balancing regulatory and business priorities
  • Clear communicator with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions
  • Team-oriented with a proactive, self-starting approach

Initial 12-month contract. Salary to be discussed.
