Job Description

At Rains, we are in an exciting phase of growth and development. As we continue to strengthen our international presence, the UK & Ireland market plays a key role in our overall commercial ambition. We are now looking for a hands-on and commercially driven Sales Director to lead and grow our wholesale business across UK & Ireland, based in London.

This role is for an experienced sales profile with a strong wholesale background, who enjoys being close to the business, customers, and market. You will take full commercial ownership of the region, working both strategically and operationally - with your hands firmly in the day-to-day execution.

The Role

As our new Sales Director, you will be responsible for setting the commercial direction for Rains across your markets and ensuring strong, consistent performance. You will lead the overall sales agenda, define priorities, and make sure the organization is focused on the right opportunities at the right time.

You create momentum by setting direction, following up, and ensuring execution across the organization. You bring a clear commercial mindset, work independently, and create structure and alignment in a complex sales setup. You know when to be hands-on and when to step back, and you move the business forward through clear decisions and strong collaboration.

  • Lead and grow key wholesale accounts

Act as the primary point of contact for key partners, build long-term relationships, and secure sales, profitability, and brand targets across UK & Ireland.

  • Drive commercial performance

Monitor sell-through, identify risks and opportunities, and actively drive performance through strong follow-up, forecasting, and action planning.

  • Develop new business opportunities

Identify and onboard new wholesale partners, including opportunities for exclusive assortments. Retail experience is a plus, but strong wholesale experience is a must.

  • Own negotiations and commercial terms

Negotiate agreements, pricing, and marketing spend in close collaboration with E-Com and Marketing, ensuring alignment with overall brand and business goals.

  • Manage clearance and off-price sales

Build assortments, negotiate deals, and help define structures, calendars, and processes for clearance and off-price sales across markets.

  • Ensure strong cross-functional execution

Work closely with Logistics, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Design to secure smooth execution, strong reporting, and clear transparency for management.

The Ideal Profile

You combine commercial thinking with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You take initiative naturally and enjoy working with both strategy and daily execution. You challenge processes constructively and bring clarity, calmness, and direction to the team.

We imagine you have:

  • Extensive experience in senior sales roles with full commercial ownership.
  • Strong wholesale background is essential; retail experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to negotiate at senior level and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly structured and comfortable managing complex, cross-market sales processes.
  • Able to translate commercial insights into clear priorities and concrete actions.
  • A curious and forward-looking mindset with a strong interest in shaping long-term growth.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Occasional travel to meet key accounts and attend sales appointments should be expected.
