The Opportunity:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sales and Purchase Supervisor to join our finance team on a full-time basis. Based on-site in Esh Winning and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role is essential to ensuring accurate management across all ledgers, maintaining strong financial relationships, and supporting healthy cash flow.

You will lead a small team and work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve queries, manage credit control processes, and ensure compliance with financial policies. The role includes direct management of a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the processing of sales invoices, receipts, and payments
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of customer transactions
  • Monitor outstanding debts and manage credit control processes

Purchase Ledger Management

  • Supervise the processing of supplier invoices, payments, and credit notes
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage payment runs and ensure compliance with payment terms
  • Manage and support a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks

Team Supervision

  • Lead and support the ledger team, providing training and guidance
  • Allocate tasks and ensure deadlines are met
  • Act as the point of escalation for complex queries or issues

Compliance and Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or ledger supervision
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ledger management
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of bank reconciliations and cash allocation postings
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • An aptitude for IT and a process improvement mindset
