Job Description

Southview Medical Practice, a well-established, resilientand high achieving practice are seeking an enthusiastic and committed GP tojoin our dynamic, friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team as a salaried GP

We are a friendly, efficient team with a growing list sizeof 11,500 patients.

Prime location: - We are based in a diverse commuter town inthe heart of Surrey, 25 minutes from London by train and close to manypicturesque villages in Surrey and the Surrey Hills as well as close to theSouth coast. We have excellent local facilities for those with families of allages. We are also close to the new medical school based at the University ofSurrey.

Main duties of the job
  • Full or Part-time considered
  • 15 minute face to face appointments
  • A mixture of 10/15 minute telephone appointments
  • Total Triage System with effective carenavigation
  • EMIS/EMIS-X practice also using AccuRx, TeamNetand Docman
  • Strong training ethos: GP trainees, FY2s, medical students from St Georges, student nurses.
  • Diverse clinical team including GPs, salariedGPs, Junior Doctors, Clinical Pharmacist, Experienced ANPs, Nurses, Nursing Associate, HCAs, Clinical Triage Administrators
  • Home visiting service managed by our local paramedic service requiring limited GP cover.
  • We provide a wide range of services with highstandards and achievements in patient care, QOF and enhanced services
  • Very competitive salary which is negotiable
  • Annual Leave 6 weeks and 1 week study leave per year (both pro-rata)
  • Allocated coffee breaks are an important part ofour culture with a designated morning huddle time

Job responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, safe and effective primary care services to the practice population, managing both acute and chronic conditions.
  • Undertake patient consultations via face-to-face, telephone and online triage systems, ensuring appropriate clinical assessment and management.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, referral and discharge.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with national and local guidelines, ensuring safe and cost-effective prescribing practices.
  • Monitor and manage long-term conditions in line with agreed protocols and quality frameworks (e.g. QOF).
  • Refer patients appropriately to secondary care, community services, and other health professionals, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with regulatory and medico-legal requirements.
  • Participate in safeguarding processes, recognising and responding to concerns relating to children and vulnerable adults.
  • Contribute to the practices clinical governance framework, including significant event analysis (SEA), audits, and quality improvement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff, to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical discussions, and service development initiatives.
  • Support the training and supervision of medical students, trainee GPs, or other staff where appropriate.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development and comply with appraisal, revalidation, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Engage with Primary Care Network (PCN) initiatives and contribute to the delivery of enhanced services.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including CQC standards and information governance.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified medical practitioner holding a MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List (or eligibility to be included)
  • MRCGP (Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners) or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of completion of GP Specialty Training (CCT) or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, appraisal and revalidation
  • Postgraduate qualifications or special interest (e.g. minor surgery, womens health, diabetes)
  • Experience of working within UK general practice/NHS primary care
  • Experience in teaching or supervision of trainees
  • Additional leadership or management qualifications
