We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, forward thinking individual to join our lovely team. The post holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
Our GP Day consists of an AM and PM session with a mixture of 10 and 15 minute face to face and telephone consultations for minor and emergency problems.
You will be supported by an excellent clinical team which comprises 5 GP Partners, 5 salaried GPs, a nursing team who manage chronic diseases and includes GPAs, HCAs and phlebotomists, a pharmacy team and other PCN based teams including social prescribing, physios, a mental health practitioner and frailty nurses.
Our GP Partners here aim to be as flexible as they possibly can and support you.
We are ideally seeking a GP to work regular Wednesdays, with a weekly alternating duty commitment.
Subject to changing GP patterns and mutual agreement, there is potential for the role to expand over time from 2 sessions to 46 sessions.

About usWe are a well established and innovative training GMS practice with 2 sites on Cheltenham Road and at Highnam. We have a patient list size of 12,000. Our CQC rating is good.
Job responsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities:
- The post holder will make himself/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate and in keeping with guidelines.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the prescribing formulary and guidelines and with NHS Gloucestershire guidelines whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Participate in the training and supervision of other clinicians (within the post holder's areas of competency).
- In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- A commitment to life long learning and audit to ensure evidence based best practice.
- Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
- Contributing to the development of computer based patient records.
- Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read Coding patient data.
- Attending training and events organised by the surgery or other agencies, where appropriate.
- Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
- Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary and skill mixed team environment.
- Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF) and the PCN DES/IIF.
- Evidence of independent working in General Practice.
- Experience of supporting service change.
- Evidence of participation in Audit.
- Evidence of participation in QOF.
- A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
- Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
- Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of completion of training CCT).
- Currently on a PCT performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register.
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
- Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
- MRCGP.
- DCH.
- DRCOG.
- Evidence of CPD activities.
- Knowledge of how the NHS works.
- Have an understanding of the needs of the vulnerable groups of patients that are registered.
- Understand the health and social needs of a local practice patient population.
- Committed to personal and professional development.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Understanding of the current issues and challenges facing primary.
- Good analytical skills.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of.
