We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated GP to join oursupportive team of five GP Partners, two salaried GPs, GP Registrar, Medical Student, Nurse and Pharmacist prescribing training practice. Main duties of the jobAll duties required of a GP governed by GMS contract include - Contribute and comply with all objectives of GMS and Enhanced Service contracts, Effective data input and coding onto EMIS clinical system, Participate in clinical audits and significant event analyses, Take an active role in practice & MDT meetings, Provide high quality teaching and support to GP Trainees and other staff in training, Be responsible for own professional development and engage fully in appraisals, Maintain confidentiality within the practice that protects patients, staff and all alliedhealth professionals, Clinical cover for UTC and ward at local community hospital as per rota, Support and adhere to practice health and safety policies and legislation, Ensure that all work is CQC compliant, Complete medical and other reports for patients registered with the Practice, Contribute to a maintaining a positive working environment and culture, Active involvement in the continuous improvement and development of the practice
About usWe are based in the north of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, just a 25-minute drivefrom Penrith, which offers direct access to the M6 and West Coast mainline train services.Major cities including Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, and Edinburgh areall within a 2.5-hour drive, each with convenient airport connections.We are a highly respected GMS (General Medical Services) training practice with a patientlist of approximately 8,500. Registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), our mostrecent full inspection took place in February 2018, when we were awarded an overall Goodrating. Dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care, the practice consistently achievesexcellent results in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), maintaining strong andsteady performance over time.Our catchment area covers the central semi-rural town of Keswick and its surroundingvillages. Our GPs also provide medical cover at Keswick Community Hospital, which includes anUrgent Treatment Centre and 16 community hospital beds for step-up, step-down,rehabilitation, and palliative care. We utilise the hospital theatre to deliver minor surgeryand family planning services locally. Enhanced access appointments are available onTuesday evenings (18:3020:00) and across ten weekends each year, although participationin these sessions is not mandatory.

CastleheadMedical Centre is the only medical centre in the market town of Keswick in the Lake DistrictNational Park. Keswick provides everything you need for a fantastic place to live and work.Appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes, with a maximum of 12 patients per surgery.Each session includes a balanced mix of routine and urgent appointments. Mostconsultations are conducted face-to-face, and we operate a total clinician triage modelusing AccuRx. Workload is shared fairly and evenly across the clinician team. We place greatimportance on continuity of care and ensure protected time for regular practice meetings.Above all, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, approachable, and sociable team!QualificationsFully qualified General Practitioner (on the GP Performers List) with full GMC registrationand a current Licence to Practice, and a valid UK driving licence.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and assuch it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure andBarring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Person Specification Experience- Experience of working in UK general practice (including as a GP registrar or salaried/locum GP)
- Experience in the management of a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions across all age groups
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, including effective communication with clinicians and administrative staff
- Experience in the use of clinical IT systems (e.g. EMIS, SystmOne, or similar) and maintaining accurate, timely clinical records
- Experience of clinical audit, significant event analysis, or quality improvement activities
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and reflective practice
- Experience of working in a rural or semi-rural setting
- Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring medical students, trainees, or other healthcare professionals
- Experience of leadership or involvement in service development, such as pathway design, QOF achievement, or enhanced services
- Experience of dispensing practice (if applicable)
- Experience in palliative care, elderly care, or mental health
- Experience of working with PCNs or wider system partners (community nursing, social care, voluntary sector)
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Entry on the GMC GP Register
- Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) (or equivalent)
- Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligible for inclusion prior to commencement)
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) and commitment to revalidation
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area (e.g. Diploma in Family Planning, Diabetes, Minor Surgery, Dermatology, Mental Health, Womens Health)
- Experience or qualification in teaching and training (e.g. GP Trainer, Medical Student Tutor, Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education)
- Interest or qualification in leadership, quality improvement, or management (e.g. ILM or NHS Leadership Academy programmes)
- Experience or qualification in research or audit
- Additional qualifications in palliative care, care of the elderly, or chronic disease management
