A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated andenthusiastic 6 session Salaried GP to join our dynamic and supportive team at EastleighMedical Practice previously Archers Practice. We are a large, friendly,and forward-thinking GP training practice, committed to deliveringhigh-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse population of over 14500patients. We work very closely with our sister practice Boyatt WoodSurgery making our combined list 23000 patients.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse patient caseload across all age groups
  • Face-to-face, video and telephone consultations
  • Issuing and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Clinical triage and participation in the duty GP rota
  • Occasional home visits for housebound frail elderly and palliative patients
  • Participating in clinical meetings and quality improvement work
  • Supporting the teaching and supervision of medical students and GP trainees

Job responsibilities

OverallPurpose to provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients onthe Practice list.

JobSummary:

Thepost-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients.

ClinicalResponsibilities:

Inaccordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make himself/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including F2F consultations,telephone consultations answer e consults, triage calls, triage visits, actiontest results and requesting appropriate tests for patients checking and signingof acute and repeat prescriptions and dealing with any self generated paperwork, andcorrespondence in a timely fashion.

Respondto medical problems presented by regular and temporary residents as required.

Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganization.

Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems.

Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Completionof clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for thedelivery of the service.

Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions wherever possible).

Prescribingin accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary / HIOW Formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Participatein training plans of medical students as required.

Ingeneral, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal dutiesand responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Maintaining, monitoringand updating computer database and management of medical records and practiceaudits

Ensurethat practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately withinformation relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy andfor practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.

Appropriateuse of read codes.

PracticeOrganization

Process and actionincoming patient and hospital correspondence

Attendanceat in-house meetings, significant event audit meetings and locality meetings

Ensure that thepractice complaints system is adhered to at all times

Awarenessand compliance with all relevant guidelines e.g. data protection,confidentiality and health and safety

Maintaincurrent BLS and anaphylaxis certification, Level 3 safeguarding adult andchild, Infection Control, Information Governance, Fire and any other mandatorytraining that may be required by the Practice.

Youwill be required to attend clinical meetings at the Practice and the localityand also take part in clinical activities to ensure the smooth running of thePractice.

Clinicsand work load

Morning and evening session: 15 patients persession.

Home visits required occasionally for house bound or palliative patients. Paramedic team carry out most visits.

Test results: action your own in a timely manner.

Action any self generated paperwork for patients seen.
