Job Description
Salaried GP's specialising in care for people with substance misuse and men and women in prison and detained settings

Spectrum CIC is seeking experienced GPs to deliver primary healthcare in prison and substance misuse settings. Positions are part time or full time, face to face. All posts include NHS employment benefits such as pension, time served enhancements, and opportunities for retirees returning to work. Flexible working arrangements and part time options are available.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead clinical care within prison primary healthcare teams. Induction and training provided; full 24/7 clinical supervision available.
  • Deliver high quality, innovative care to marginalised patients with substance misuse and other health needs.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating compassion, empathy, fairness, and leadership.
  • Receive continuing professional development, appraisal and revalidation support through the GP forum and Spectrum's ILM accredited leadership and management programme.
Substance Misuse
  • Special interest in substance misuse welcomed; training and national accreditation will be provided to gain an extended role.
  • Opportunities for research or medical education available via Spectrum's departments.

Qualifications
  • UK recognised medical qualification.
  • Certificate of Vocational Training.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant clinical and service improvement areas.
  • Higher specialist qualifications or extensive relevant experience.
  • Current accreditation at GPwSI level in specialist area.
  • RCGP Certificate Part 1 and 2 - Substance Misuse.
  • Women's health and wellbeing.
  • Harm minimisation and management of bloodborne viruses.
  • Sexual health.
Knowledge
  • Primary care mental health.
  • Basic drug and alcohol awareness.
  • Chronic disease management.
  • Current health and social policy, particularly offender health.
  • Clinical risk management and governance.
  • Principles of substance misuse treatment and pharmacotherapy.
  • Principles & research.
  • Demonstrated breadth of knowledge across specialist and non specialist areas.
  • Understanding of NHS clinical governance, GP contracts, medicines management and resource constraints/financial management.
  • Up to date on new GP and pharmacy contracts.
