We are a well-established, friendly teaching practice, and our dedicated team includes 8 GPs, 4 Emergency Care Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Nursing Associates, 2 Physician Associate, 4 HCAs and 17 admin/support staff. We have been providing a full range of GP services for over 30 years and have a patient list size of over 21,000 patients.
As a teaching practice, we have Foundation Doctors and Students from Cambridge University based with us.
We are situated in a purpose-built health centre close to local amenities.

MAINPURPOSE OF POST: Toprovide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point ofcommunication between patients, doctors and other medical staff.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
The Salaried GP is a key member of the clinical team,responsible for managing a caseload and addressing a wide range of healthcareneeds within a primary care setting. The post holder will work collaborativelywith clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure the highest standards ofcare for all registered patients.
In addition to clinical duties, the post holder willactively contribute to practice planning and decision-making processes. Thisrole therefore encompasses both clinical and organisational responsibilities.
Clinical Responsibilities
The post holder must be aware of the responsibilitiesplaced on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) to ensure thatthe agreed procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment forpatients, visitors and staff.

Clinical Responsibilities
- In accordance with the Practicetimetable, as agreed, the post holder will make themselves available toundertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephoneconsultations and queries, visiting patients at home, issuing and signingrepeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence ina timely fashion.
- Makes professionally autonomousdecisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referredinternally within the Practice.
- Receives patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and makes assessment of their healthcare needs.
- Screens patients for disease riskfactors and early signs of illness.
- Develops care plans for health inconsultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease managementprotocols.
- Provides counselling and healtheducation.
- Prescribes in accordance with the IntegratedCare Board (ICB) prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Admits or discharges patients to andfrom caseload and refers them to other care providers internally or externallyas appropriate.
- Complies with relevant Practicepolicy/guidelines, e.g. Child Protection, confidentiality issues etc.
- Is committed to lifelong learning,audit and effectiveness issues to ensure evidence based best practice.
- Maintains GMC registration.
- Ensures continuous Medical Defencecover.
- Ensures inclusion on a localPerformers list.
- Consults with patients in the surgeryand at home visits as agreed internally between all partners.
- Be available for on-call duties toanswer patients telephone queries or carry out emergency home visits, orsurgery consultations as appropriate.
- Contributes to the evaluation/auditand clinical standard setting with colleagues.
- Records clear and contemporaneousI.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Complies and issuescomputer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-writtenprescriptions whenever possible)
- The post holder will be expected toundertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GPworking within primary care.
- Contributes to the strategicmanagement and development of Practice e.g. in developing and contributing toPractice policies and guidelines.
- Attendance at training, Practicemeetings and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, whereappropriate.
- Meets all tight timescales/deadlinesfor audits and written returns to ensure that the Practice meets qualitystandards and receives the designated funding (e.g. Quarterly Enhanced Servicesreturns, annual QOF audit etc.)
- Ensuring full accreditation whichwill include full and unrestricted registration with the GMC, membership of anappropriate defence body and delivery of annual evidence for appraisal oraccreditation purposes in keeping with National requirements at any time.
- A committed to life-long learning andaudit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
- The post holder will be aware of theprinciples of preventing healthcare acquired infections by their practice ofaseptic technique/clean as appropriate.
- The post holder will carry outprocedures in a safe manner by following best practice and infection controlpolicies.
- The post holder will be responsiblefor maintaining up to date knowledge of safe practice with regards to infectioncontrol.
- The post holder will follow PHEguidance on Infectious Disease notification.
