Job Description
We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our team.

Working hours: Part-time to Full-time - (2 to 8 sessions to be worked Monday to Friday).

The practice is friendly, forward thinking, operating EMIS Web clinical system and is committed to providing a high quality service to ourpatients.

Main duties of the job The role will involve undertaking some aspects of triage, telephone consultations, face to face consultations and home visits as well as contributing to our Quality OutcomesFramework.

Applicants would need good interpersonal skills, and beflexible and reliable.

About us This is a busy practice, with a list size of approximately13,200 patients and an above average elderly population.

We have a highly skilled and experienced clinical teamincluding GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, HCA's, PracticePharmacist and Care Co-ordinator.

Job responsibilities JOB TITLE: SALARIED GENERAL PRACTITIONER

REPORTS TO: PRACTICE MANAGER

RESPONSIBLE TO:GP PARTNERS

Job Summary:

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Job Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. To undertake home visits where appropriate

h. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

i. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

j. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

k. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

l. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

m. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

n. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

o. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

p. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

q. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

r. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

s. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

a. Participate in practice audits as requested

b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately

In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential

Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

All patients diagnosis and treatments must be held in the STRICTEST CONFIDENCE at all times

Health & Safety:

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks

Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
