Safety Officer - Civil Engineering / Infrastructure Projects

A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a Safety Officer to join their growing team, with the majority of the role based on a major project at Dublin Airport, alongside other civil engineering projects across the Greater Dublin area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Safety Officer with 2-5 years' experience to develop their career within an established contractor, gaining exposure to large-scale civil, infrastructure, groundworks, and construction projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Management, and wider Health & Safety team to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across all site activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the company's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety checks.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Monitor civil, groundworks, excavation, and infrastructure activities.
• Assist with risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and assist with corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and site safety briefings.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and employees on health and safety matters.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.
• Promote a strong positive safety culture across the project.
• Assist with safety reporting and ongoing improvements to site safety standards.

Requirements

• Relevant Health & Safety qualification.
• 2-5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within construction or civil engineering.
• Civil engineering, infrastructure, or groundworks experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience carrying out site inspections and audits.
• Good understanding of risk assessments and method statements.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
• Full driving licence required.
