Royal Hospital Chelsea - Regional Veterans Outreach Officer (South East)

THIS JOB VACANCY HAS NOW CLOSED

Comradeship and a sense of community are key elements of the health and wellbeing package enjoyed by residents of the Royal Hospital Chelsea - the Chelsea Pensioners. Our Veteran's Outreach programme, launched in late 2022, aims to extend this support to the wider veterans' community in the Greater London region. We have successfully built a network of older veterans from all three services, known as 'Out Pensioners', who regularly attend events, activities, and Drop-Ins at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. We now seek to expand this programme beyond Greater London, starting with the 8 counties of the Southeast region as a pilot scheme, with plans to replicate the model in other regions.

The Regional Veterans Outreach Officer plays a vital role in bringing our expansion plans to fruition. They will help plan, develop, and deliver the regional programme, aiming to reduce social isolation and loneliness among older veterans by leveraging the experience of our Chelsea Pensioners and our delivery partners.

Supporting the Head of Veterans Outreach, the officer will assist in planning and delivering activities and events designed to attract older veterans. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with local delivery partners (DPs), recruiting and overseeing volunteers across the 8 counties, and identifying veterans who could benefit from our programme.

The ideal candidate will be selfless, service-oriented, enthusiastic, proactive, and possess excellent people skills to network effectively with our veteran community. Experience with the Armed Forces community and/or working with older adults is highly advantageous. Familiarity with the Southeast region is also desirable. Experience managing volunteers is a plus. The role requires autonomy and a passion for making a positive impact on veterans.

The post involves extensive travel around the Southeast region, including overnight stays. A full, clean driving licence is essential. The successful candidate must also obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance.

If you believe you have the necessary skills and experience, we look forward to hearing from you.

This is a full-time role, averaging 41 hours per week. The salary range is £33,000 - £38,000.

If you are enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to make a difference in a historic and rewarding environment, we invite you to join our team.
