Job Description

The Room Manager has a duty of care for all children placed in their care and overall management within the room.

The Room Manager is responsible for the overall management within the room to ensure legal and curriculum requirements are met in line with Inspire Montessori Schools policies and procedures.

They are responsible for ensuring all staff prepare and supervise suitable activities to create and develop a stimulating environment, providing high-quality childcare while maintaining a professional and positive outcome for both children and staff.

They must communicate with management regarding activities and progress in the room and coordinate short and medium-term planning aligned with business needs to meet curriculum requirements.

Good communication skills are essential, involving listening, questioning, understanding, and responding to children, young people, and caregivers.

The role includes working as part of a multi-agency team with a clear understanding of your role and others' roles, sharing information timely for the safety and well-being of the child.

The Room Manager may need to step into a Deputy Head role in their absence due to holiday, training, or sickness.

Knowledge of occupancy and needs within the rooms is required, along with developing marketing strategies for the nursery as agreed with management and Directors.

Developing positive relationships with all partners and making recommendations from audits are also part of the role.

The Room Manager/Third in Charge supports the management team with planning to meet curriculum and business needs.

A strong understanding of child development is essential to meet each child's individual needs.

Responsibilities include communicating with management about activities and progress, ensuring timely tracking of children, and creating a positive environment based on Early Years & Montessori principles.

Wembley Park Montessori is recruiting an experienced Baby Unit Manager for their nursery of 36 places.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours weekly, with shifts between 8 am-6 pm, including at least one half-day per week.

Salary ranges from £24,960 to £30,000 per year, depending on experience.

A typical day involves leading and working with the team to ensure smooth nursery operations, caring for children's personal and hygiene needs, observing and planning for individual development, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies, involving the team in decision-making, forming partnerships with parents, and deputising for managers when needed.

Requirements include a minimum of Level 3 in Childcare or Montessori Diploma, previous experience leading a nursery room with children under 5, knowledge of EYFS, excellent communication skills, ICT skills, and a current DBS certificate. Experience in Montessori settings is preferred but not essential.
