EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOWThis is a pivotal role within the River Health & Enhancement team, responsible for driving the successful end to end delivery of the Spills Programme. You'll play a key part in achieving our spills performance targets and managing compliance risks, ensuring our approach protects both the environment and our regulatory commitments.
As our River Health & Enhancement Lead, you'll hold a holistic view of targeted storm overflows and ensure that each has a defined solution. You'll also make sure these solutions are correctly prioritised within the relevant delivery workstreams. Central to your success will be your ability to coordinate and support a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators, working collaboratively across the business to manage information flow, track progress, and maintain strong communication between teams.
You'll work closely with the Performance & Reporting team to identify new and evolving priority sites, transforming these into actions. You'll have accountability for SOAF compliance and other regulatory drivers, and ensure right actions are in place to maintain compliance, reduce spills, and minimise environmental impact. With a hands on approach, you'll embed yourself and the wider team within the operational rhythm of Wastewater Recycling, Waste Networks, and other essential delivery teams such as Capital and Commercial services.
Finally, you'll take ownership of designing and embedding new processes that support the delivery of spills related activity. This includes ensuring stakeholders follow established processes and utilise tools effectively.
Key accountabilities are:- Lead and develop the team to deliver wastewater and network solutions safely, efficiently and to the required quality, while driving continuous improvement.
- Oversee end to end programme management, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, compliance, risk control and effective delivery across all targeted sites.
- Act as the central point of contact for the Spills Programme, managing communications, prioritisation of new requirements, and stakeholder engagement across internal teams and third party partners.
- Ensure robust financial and compliance management, including budget ownership, cost control, quality assurance and accurate maintenance of tools.
- Build strong relationships and resolve delivery challenges, supporting workstreams, managing blockers, and contributing subject matter expertise to the wider Spills Operating Model strategy.
You'll bring a strong track record of delivering large, complex, multi disciplinary programmes, supported by extensive experience across wastewater recycling and waste network systems. Your background will demonstrate successful collaboration with supply chain partners, effective stakeholder influence, and the ability to build and develop high performing teams. You will also have a history of achieving strong financial and operational outcomes, with a deep understanding of how assets interact with the environment.
Alongside your experience, you will have a dynamic and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery. You will be confident making sound decisions in ambiguous situations, driving innovation, improving processes, and strengthening relationships across Severn Trent and external partners. - Working in an infrastructure/regulated environment
- Qualified in Engineering, Construction and Project Management or Environmental discipline, degree preferable.
- Experience and knowledge in waste operational roles
- Full UK driving licence
