The role involves providing a highly specialist clinical psychology service to children and young people who are in the care system and their care givers, with complex and severe mental health problems.
Responsibilities- Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention of clients referred to CAMHS using complex psychological data.
- Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, training and consultation.
- Work as an effective member of the multi disciplinary team.
- Contribute to the development of the CAMHS team clinical offer and participate in audit and research.
- Monitor and provide clinical oversight of referrals, waiting lists and allocation of cases.
- Supervise other psychological professionals within the team in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Provide specialist clinical placements and supervision to doctoral level trainees.
- Use theory, evidence based literature, and research to support evidence based practice in individual work and with other team members.
- Contribute to team meetings and the effective operation of CAMHS.
- Provide advice, supervision, consultation and dissemination of psychological research and theory.
- Demonstrate familiarity with child protection procedures, legislation, and best practice in health and safety.
- Promote equality, diversity and rights.
- Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
- Support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinicians and work autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising full clinical responsibility and implementing changes where necessary within overall team policies.
- Work co operatively with multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve service goals and contribute to service development.
- Provide clinical supervision to colleagues in the team and other psychological services staff (qualified psychologists, trainee and assistant psychologists, child psychotherapists, art therapists or other staff).

- Good honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the BPS
- PhD or DClinPsych or equivalent in Clinical Psychology
- Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical) with the HCPC
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency setting.
- Experience in a CAMHS or similar setting
- Experience of working with children and young people who are looked after by the local authority.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with children, young people and their families with severe and complex mental health problems across the full range of care settings.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£57,528 to £64,750 a year (pro rata)
