We're looking for an inspiring and driven Registered Manager to lead our Reablement and Independence Service (RIS) - a vital part of Slough Borough Council's mission to deliver truly integrated, person-centred care. You'll lead a dedicated team delivering short-term, outcome-focused support that helps people regain independence and live well at home. Job Overview

Working closely with the OT Service Manager and Head of Short Term Services, you'll drive a seamless "one service" approach - ensuring smooth hospital discharges, proportionate care planning and cost effective interventions that reduce long-term dependency. You'll also represent RIS within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and across council wide forums, championing collaboration and aligning services with Slough's strategic vision for excellence in care.

Main Duties

The Reablement and Independence Service (RIS) provides short-term, outcome-focused support to adults in their homes or external settings, helping them regain independence and confidence in daily living. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, the service delivers reablement and rehabilitation through collaborative assessments and care planning. Interventions are case managed by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, and delivered by Rehabilitation Team Leaders, Supervisors and Reablement Assistants, all of whom take an enabling, strength-based approach to care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, support and develop a multidisciplinary team providing short-term, outcome-focused reablement support.
  • Drive a seamless "one service" approach to ensure smooth hospital discharges, proportionate care planning and cost effective interventions.
  • Represent RIS within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and council-wide forums, championing collaboration and aligning services with Slough's strategic vision.
  • Collaborate closely with the OT Service Manager and Hospital Social Work Team to support hospital discharges directly into reablement.
  • Manage service delivery, resources, budgets and staffing to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working with adults and older individuals with chronic conditions and complex co morbidities as a registered manager of a community service.
  • Experience in community care, rehabilitation and reablement.
  • Experience of leading a team, managing staff, resources and budgets.
  • Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team and interagency collaborative working.
  • Experience of diffusing conflict and complaints.
  • Experience of coping with changing priorities and pressures within care management services.
  • Experience of working in partnership with related professionals to achieve client-focused goals.
  • Able to develop effective therapeutic and working relationships, demonstrating empathy and motivational skills.
  • Able to manage conflict and difficult situations and to challenge and support others appropriately and assertively.
  • Committed to personal and team professional development.
  • Ability to work flexible working patterns over a 7-day week and be able to travel across the Borough and Sector.
  • Ability to prioritise at times of high demand levels, identifying the most at-risk groups / clients.
  • Ability to assimilate a wide range of information, including adult safeguarding procedures and referral processes, to staff within the team.
  • Ability to manage own workload and produce clear, concise reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, including observation, listening and empathy skills.
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent standard.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development/training.
Benefits and Salary

Pay Level 8: £48,277 to £53,509 fully inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance.

Working Pattern and Location
  • Permanent contract.
  • Flexible rota working across 7 days a week, including weekends, bank holidays and out of hours as required.
