Rigs and Component Testing Technician

- Conduct characterisation, validation and sign-off testing for brake, suspension, metallic and composite vehicle components.
- Set up, operate and maintain specialist test rigs, instrumentation, strain gauges, sensors and data acquisition systems.
- Monitor, analyse and clearly present test data, producing accurate reports and updating relevant component lifing and database systems.
- Prepare test environments, assemblies and hardware, troubleshooting equipment to ensure safe, reliable and accurate operation.
- Support development, dynamometer, type approval and homologation testing at McLaren and external facilities in the UK and internationally.
- Experience in vehicle or component testing within a high-performance motorsport, automotive or comparable engineering environment.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulic or servo-mechanical test rigs, actuator systems and associated control platforms such as Zwick, CATS3 or similar.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation accurately.
- Experience installing and calibrating test instrumentation, acquiring and analysing data, and using platforms such as ATLAS or comparable software.
- An understanding of materials testing, fatigue, durability, component validation and compliance processes, with governing body regulations or acoustic emission techniques advantageous.
- A proactive, accountable approach, with a strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and share knowledge across teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement and excellent attention to detail.
- The resilience, focus and organisation needed to deliver high-quality work within demanding timescales.
- An adaptable mindset and enthusiasm for learning, with flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend work and travel when required.
