Respiratory Diagnostic Nurse - Wyre Forest Health Partnership

The Wyre Forest Health Partnership is seeking a motivated and experienced respiratory nurse, based at our Kidderminster Medical Centre site, with cross-site working required. This role is responsible for delivering a range of respiratory nursing assessments and providing high-quality care and treatment in line with practice policies and protocols, working collaboratively with GPs and the wider team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to improving patient care standards and actively contribute to identifying and addressing the health needs of our practice population. Chronic Disease Management is a key component of the role.
We are looking for someone who is clinically confident, a strong communicator, and passionate about delivering excellent primary care services.
This is a part time position with exact hours to be discussed at interview, ideally working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Interviews will be scheduled from 5th January 2026
Main duties of the job- Perform spirometry assessments to required standard
- Interpret spirometry results, including where assessments have been completed by other clinicians across the Wyre Forest Health Partnerships five sites.
- Initiate and titrate asthma and COPD medication.
- Conduct respiratory diagnostic assessments, including FeNO testing.
- Respond to emergencies in the primary care setting.
- Adhere to infection control measures.

WFHP has been operating since December 2014 as a single Partnership, operating out of 5 surgeries. We operate at scale and are at the forefront of primary care delivery in how we organise ourselves, having management and leverage for a large number of primary care employees (c300 employees including 50 GPs). We also look after c 73,000 patients. We have a very strong quality improvement ethic, and are always looking to improve.
WFHP is working towards the NHS goals to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible. We actively encourage new staff to take an interest in this and build sustainable practice into their roles.
Job responsibilitiesUndertake a range of respiratory nursing assessments and provide appropriate care / treatment in conjunction with GPs according to practice policy, protocols etc.
Strive to improve standards of care and be involved in identifying practice population needs. Respiratory Disease management is an essential part of the role.
Be the point of contact for respiratory nursing queries, as well as the mentoring of our Health Care Assistants.
Knowledge of Paediatric Spirometry is desirable.
Person Specification Experience- Minimum 2 years post-registration experience
- Management of long-term Respiratory Conditions
- Experience performing and interpreting Spirometry results.
- Involvement in implementing and using protocols
- Participation in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking
- At least 1 year recent primary and/or community nursing experience
- Experience initiating Asthma and COPD medication
- Paediatric Spirometry
- Experience delivering Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FENO) tests and interpreting results
- Right to work in the UK (We are not able to offer skilled worker sponsorship for this position)
- Successful completion of the Association for Respiratory Training and Physiology (ARTP) Spirometry Assessment
- Communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to communicate difficult messages to patients and families.
- Clinical skills such as cervical cytology, wound care, application of compression bandaging, administration of childhood immunisation and other vaccines and injections and delivery of travel health.
- Change-management skills and ability to support patients to change lifestyle.
£39,110 to £46,300 a yearPro-rata for part time, Pay Dependant on Experience
