Job Description
Overview

Bolton School is seeking an experienced, hands-on Residential Manager to join the team at Patterdale Hall, our high-quality adventure learning centre on Lake Ullswater, 14 miles from Penrith. This key management role oversees residential operations including accommodation, catering, and office functions, ensuring guests are safe, comfortable, and well cared for.



Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Patterdale Hall and the Activities Manager, leading by example to foster a positive, respectful, and solution-focused culture.

  • The residential manager will live on site and cover the centre's on-call requirements, ensuring that should there be a rare issue overnight, customers have a first point of contact, emergency and first aid support.

  • The role holder is also responsible for maintaining the security of the site. A comfortable apartment is provided free of charge inclusive of rates and bills (suitable for a couple or small family; pets considered). It may be possible for a partner or spouse to also be employed at the centre.

  • The role requires strong catering skills, including the ability to cook for up to 80 guests and provide cover for the cook when needed. While established menus and systems are in place, fresh ideas are welcome.

  • Successful management experience in the hospitality sector including performance reviews, forward planning, rostering of staff is essential.
