Residential Care Officer - Drylaw YPC

Salary: £34,452 - £40,501. Hours: 36 per week. Part time hours may be available over a combination of early, late and night shifts and are subject to working time payments and unsociable hour allowances.
About the RoleDrylaw House aims to provide positive and safe experiences for all young people through nurturing care, respect, connection and wrap around education that is individualised and promotes young people's mental and emotional well being. Future positive outcomes are a crucial focus for supporting vulnerable young people.
The role of Residential Childcare Officer (RCO) is key to supporting, caring for, and upholding the rights of children and young people and the ethos of Drylaw. You will be a child centred, resilient and motivated individual, acting as a positive role model and working using a trauma informed approach to make a difference in the lives of our young people.
What You'll Do- Support and care for young people, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Promote children's rights and advocate for them throughout their residential care.
- Implement relationship based practice and the principles of Edinburgh's Promise.
- Deliver individualized, wrap around care with a focus on mental and emotional wellbeing.
- Adapt to changing needs and adapt workloads as required with a clear focus on improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- Hold or be working toward completing SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent in childcare/social care or a related area, or another relevant qualification at SCQF Level 7 or above.
- Register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of employment under the relevant category.
- Be willing to complete a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 check and, if required, an overseas criminal record check.
- Reliable, adaptable, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to promoting children's rights and advocating for vulnerable young people.
