Research Intern - Chemistry
Posted 6 days 23 hours ago by ReactWise Technologies Ltd.
ReactWise is a start up located in Cambridge (UK) that offers powerful no code software for optimizing chemical reactions. Using machine learning (ML) algorithms developed by the founders during their PhDs at the University of Cambridge, their software can significantly reduce process development time, bringing novel drugs to clinical trials much faster. Several chemical and pharmaceutical companies, such as Pfizer, Amgen, and Roche are currently using our software. We also operate our own High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) laboratory to generate the chemistry data and expertise that power our proprietary optimization algorithms.
Job DescriptionGreen chemistry is at the core of our work towards sustainable medicines manufacturing. We are looking for a hands on, data driven chemistry intern to join our team and contribute to our green chemistry research - exploring how cleaner, safer solvents and more efficient processes can replace traditional approaches without compromising performance. You will work in our wet lab to generate experimental data, then compile your findings into a clear technical report. This is an opportunity to build your laboratory skills while gaining experience at the interface of chemistry, sustainability, and software - leading directly to real world impact. You may also have the opportunity to contribute to lab automation work depending on your interests and the team's priorities.
Responsibilities- Design, execute, and analyze sustainable chemistry experiments in the wet lab
- Collect and interpret experimental data using analytical techniques such as HPLC MS
- Compile results into a technical report evaluating the experimental outcomes
- Contribute to the day to day operation and continuous improvement of laboratory workflows
- Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a degree in Chemistry
- Strong interest in synthetic organic chemistry and hands on laboratory work
- Knowledge of (multi step) synthetic practices, including air free techniques, syringes, and column chromatography
- Knowledge of structural characterization techniques (HPLC, NMR, MS, UV Vis)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment
- Strong record keeping ability, including management of a lab book, and experimental/digital data
- UK right to work
- Experience with LC MS analysis and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of solvent modeling techniques
- Familiarity with lab automation hardware and techniques
