Research Fellow in Nutritional Epidemiology

Research Fellow in Nutritional Epidemiology

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you an ambitious researcher seeking your next challenge? Do you have an established background in nutritional epidemiology or public health research? Would you like to advance your career at one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities?

We are looking for an experienced Research Fellow to join the Nutritional Epidemiology Group (NEG) to support an exciting new project: Evaluation of the School Fruit and Veg Scheme. The project aims to determine whether the scheme promotes higher fruit and vegetable intake among children.

This project involves a multi-disciplinary team across two universities: the University of Leeds and Northumbria University. It will include participants from the Northeast and Yorkshire and Humber regions. Fieldworkers will visit 40 schools to observe and record children's dietary intake during the school day. Children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 will participate, with parents recording home intake. Children from Year 2 will be followed into Year 3 to assess changes after eligibility for the scheme ends. Data collection will include interviews and focus groups. A second Research Fellow at Northumbria University will focus on data collection in the North East. Both fellows will collaborate closely.

Applicants should hold a PhD (or near completion) in Nutritional Epidemiology or a related discipline, with a strong background in nutritional epidemiology or public health research. Experience in quantitative analysis of large datasets using statistical software, excellent time management, planning, and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.

Please note that this position may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route. First-time applicants may need to qualify for salary concessions. For more information, visit: .
