The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (e.g. when filling up with petrol), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments and consultations for industry, research and administration. Your challenge

• Combining aspects of electrical high frequency measurements with nanometrology by setting up and operating Near-Field Scanning Microwave Microscopes in the framework of international R&D projects.
• Characterizing materials with precision at the nano and micrometer level.
• Collaborating with research institutes and industry partners.
• Contributing to project proposals, scientific reports and publications.

Your profile

• A university degree in the natural sciences or in engineering with a PhD or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of scanning probe microscopy and high-frequency measurement technology. Bonus skills in construction and design, clean room technologies, simulation, data analysis and software development.
• Willingness to dive into unfamiliar terrain and learn on the go.
• Excellent English skills. Proficiency in at least one Swiss national language is a plus.
• A proactive, independent, solution-focused and team-oriented mindset.
