OverviewThe goal of the Kueh lab's research is to elucidate the molecular circuits underlying immune cell development and function, and to harness this understanding to engineer immune cells as next-generation living therapies. This position will support the lab's mission in two ways. 1) It will involve performing day-to-day lab management operations essential for supporting this research, including mouse colony maintenance, ordering, and inventory management. 2) It will involve execution of experiments including mouse experiments, in vitro assays, bulk and single-cell transcriptomic sequencing, and epigenomic profiling. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and exciting research team, in a position that will allow the candidate to build their laboratory and scientific skills. Essential duties include harvest, isolation, and culture of primary immune cells from mice and humans; in vitro differentiation assays; flow cytometry; single-cell transcriptomics and chromatin accessibility assays; recombinant DNA cloning; retroviral packaging and transduction; and mouse colony management.
General Laboratory: Prepare stocks of some laboratory solutions and help to keep the lab outfitted with supplies and reagents. Data Records: Ensures data results are compiled, analyzed, and presented properly. Keep clear and accurate records of data collected during experimentation. Data Analysis: Performs analyses and interpretation of the data where appropriate. Reaches preliminary scientific conclusions related to research planning. Interacts with the PI, other lab members, and EHS officers to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory. Interacts with external contacts such as staff at biotechnology and reagent companies to consult on research methods. Immunology: Design, prepare, conduct, and analyze complex experiments.

Analyzes, develops, and interprets scientific results. Maintains clear documentation of results. Prepares scientific reports and papers for research proposals and published reports.
Performs independent research and laboratory techniques and participates in experimental research planning.
Coordinates with internal contacts including the PI, research assistants, graduate students, Radiation Safety and Biological Safety officers, and Animal Care personnel to discuss and evaluate research results and to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the laboratory.
Interacts with external contacts such as researchers at other institutions and staff at biotechnology and reagent companies to consult on research methods and to keep abreast of product information and developments.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities- 1. Scientific and Technical Proficiency: Background in molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or physical sciences with experience in techniques such as PCR, sequencing, microscopy, and cell culture.
- 2. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritizing tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- 3. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, including research staff, study sponsors, and collaborators.
- 4. Team Collaboration: Ability to work well as part of a team, provide instruction and guidance, and contribute to the overall objectives of the research projects.
- 5. Independent Research: Demonstrated ability to perform independent research, analyze and interpret experimental data, and contribute to scientific reports and publications.
- 1. Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biological Science, or another directly related scientific field; 1+ years of hands-on experience working in a biology research lab.
