Job Description
Overview

This full-time fixed-term Research Associate position at the University of Bath offers a vibrant opportunity to contribute to applied health services research that has real-world implications for urgent and emergency care systems. The post is part of the Same Day Urgent Care (SURGE) Workforce Research Partnership, an ambitious multi-institution collaboration funded by the NIHR Health and Social Care Delivery Research Programme. Working within the Information, Decisions and Operations (IDO) Division in the School of Management and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Improvement (CHI ), you'll be part of a cross-partnership post-doctoral community engaged in shaping evidence that can influence policy and practice in urgent care workforce planning and delivery. The role integrates research design, data management, advanced analytics and interpretation alongside dissemination of findings to academic and healthcare audiences, with opportunities for contributing to reports, presentations and publications, and participating in a broader skills development programme.

Eligibility Criteria

The role is designed for a self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with experience in quantitative health services research methods and a strong interest in applying analytical approaches to complex workforce and service delivery challenges in healthcare. Experience working with large or complex datasets and a passion for producing actionable, evidence-based insights are essential. Excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and partner organisations, are expected.

Required Expertise, Skills

Applicants should have well-developed quantitative research capabilities including statistical analysis and data analytics, experience in designing and implementing reproducible data workflows, and familiarity with relevant analytical software. Strong skills in translating analytical findings into meaningful insights for both academic and practice communities are key to success in this position. The ability to contribute to study documentation, governance processes and dissemination outputs will be part of the role.

Salary Details

Salary for this Research Associate position at the University of Bath is listed in the range of approximately £38,784 to £46,049 per annum (Grade 7), commensurate with experience and skills.
