General Description: Imperial College London's Dyson School of Design Engineering is seeking an exceptional Research Associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary research programme focused on remanufacture within the circular economy. This full time, fixed term post will be based at the South Kensington Campus and involves collaboration with academic and external partners to explore decentralised systems, distributed ledger technologies (DLTs), and other digital methods that can support trust, coordination, and efficiency in remanufacturing processes as part of broader circular economy frameworks. The role is situated within a vibrant research environment committed to innovation, scientific excellence, and societal impact. Eligibility Criteria:
- A PhD (or equivalent) in Engineering, Systems Design, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
- A strong academic publication record appropriate to career stage is desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills to engage with both academic peers and external partners.
Required Expertise/Skills:
- Expertise in at least one of the following areas: decentralised systems, network theory, control systems, manufacturing engineering, remanufacture, condition monitoring, or digital twinning.
- A keen interest in decentralised technologies and their societal and technological impact.
- Ability to design, model, and analyse mechanisms for decentralised coordination relevant to circular economy applications.
- Proven problem solving and project management skills, including supporting junior researchers and contributing to academic dissemination (e.g., publications, conferences).
Salary Details: Competitive salary: £49,017 - £50,893 per annum (SP 18), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
