Research & Development Engineer

Energis is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing company for an R&D Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands on work, solving technical problems, developing new products and seeing ideas progress from concept through to production. Working as part of a collaborative development team, you'll support research and development projects, carry out product testing, contribute to new product introductions and help improve existing products.

The Role
- Support research and development projects from concept through to production.
- Carry out performance testing and validation of new and existing products in accordance with established procedures.
- Work closely with the engineering team to develop new products and enhance existing product ranges.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring products transition smoothly into manufacture.
- Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support production.
- Liaise with suppliers to assist with material selection and component performance.
- Maintain accurate records of development, prototyping and testing activities.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal stakeholders.
- Provide technical support across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product innovation initiatives.
Criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Minimum one year's engineering experience within product development, R&D, manufacturing or a similar environment (industrial placement experience will be considered).
- Experience supporting engineering projects from concept through to production.
- An understanding of product development, testing or validation processes.
- Experience working with engineering drawings, technical documentation and Bills of Materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
