The role is based within the Birmingham City Council Rent Service at The Council House.
Responsibilities- Respond to and deliver a comprehensive contact service to meet service demand from customers via telephone, visits, online/digital, with emphasis on visiting activity in line with policies and procedures, legal protocols, statutory governance, performance management frameworks and published service standards to maximise income whilst maintaining the highest principles of integrity in service delivery.
- Deliver visiting income management and recovery, and relations service to meet demand, quality and performance standards, as informed by the income recovery escalation policy, customer requests, vulnerability issues and other proactive or reactive campaign work and ensure that all income management escalation and/or income campaign work actions are executed in line with policy and procedural timescales.
- Assume responsibility for all cases within your functional and geographic area and regularly review Northgate rent accounts, facilitating contact via telephone, visit and letter to assist tenants in resolving rent arrears where arrears have exceeded the level advised by Senior Rent Service Management, carrying out preventative work to avoid the need for legal possession proceedings.
- Advise and assist tenants with benefit claims, Universal Credit claims, DHP requests, Debt Advice Team referrals and signposting to relevant support teams.
- Execute evictions where required and ensure all pre-eviction and post-eviction tasks are completed.
- Extensive knowledge of Housing Legislation in the context of income recovery and experience dealing with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage self and workload, plan and organise resources to meet service demand within quality and performance frameworks, work well as part of a team, and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken.
