Job Description
Overview

Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable people enjoy as much fulfilment as they can and feel included in their community? If compassion, care and inclusiveness are an important part of who you are, our opportunities to work away from the routine in a demanding, challenging but emotionally rewarding role could be for you.

Our Turning Point Scotland Services in Angus - Montrose are looking for people like you to help provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.

Turning Point Scotland's Angus service is a support service that provides support to individuals with complex needs, including learning disability and autism. We provide support to people in their own homes living in the community and support them with everyday opportunities that promote independence and choice.

About the Service

We strive to enable people to access everyday life experiences including education, employment/volunteering and social activities. We also provide support with developing relationships and maintaining a home. We work in partnership with health teams, social work teams, community justice teams, police and advocacy.

The support we provide is always person centred; we involve the people who know the individual well, including family and friends, other health and social work professionals, advocacy services and our own staff members.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a Relief Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives, such as keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.

When suitable work is available within a service, a manager will contact you to offer a shift or series of shifts. You will fit your work around your existing commitments and are under no pressure to accept work that does not suit you. Once work is offered and accepted, you are expected to make every effort to attend and undertake the shift. Your reliability is very important to our services and the people we support.

Relief Workers submit a time sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work.

Qualifications & Training

No previous working experience is required; full training will be provided. You must have IT skills. Where applicable, successful candidates are required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
